The National Mandate Group (NMG), a political pressure group in Rivers State that backs the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said it will hold a solidarity march in Port Harcourt, the state capital, in support of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
Senator Lee Maeba, the NMG national coordinator, made the announcement on Friday while he was speaking at the launch of pro-Atiku campaign T-shirts in Port Harcourt. However, he did not specify the date of the solidarity march.
Maeba stated that the organization would not want its members to be attacked while attending rallies in the State, claiming that campaign rallies rarely result in votes.
He said: “Rallies do not bring votes now. We resolved that the modus operandi of the National Mandate Group is to go to the units and fish the voters.
“What we shall do is to stage a solidarity march across the streets of Port Harcourt for Atiku and Okowa and so many people will join us.”
