According to the Defence Headquarters, during various operations conducted across the country between January and March, troops killed at least 2,352 terrorists, detained 2,308, and freed 1,241 hostages who had been kidnapped.
While providing updates on military activities around the nation on Thursday in Abuja, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media activities, disclosed this information.
According to Buba, Abu Bilal Minuki, also known as Abubakar Mainok, the Head of ISGS and ISWAP’s Is-Al Furqan Province, and Haruna Isiya Boderi were among the terrorist commanders slain.
He added that on February 21, forces had killed a few terrorist leaders who had been active in the Birnin Gwari forest, Kaduna State, and along the Abuja-Kaduna route.
Among those he mentioned as eliminated was Kachallah Damina, who was neutralized in March along with over fifty other combatants, Alhaji Baldu, Kachallah Ubangida, Kachallah Balejo, Kachallah Azarailu (Farin-Ruwa), Kachallah Idi (Namaidaro), Kachallah Kabiru (Doka), and Kachallah Alhaji Dayi, among others.
He claimed that coordinated air and ground operations against terrorist strongholds allowed for the accomplishment.
The defense official stated, “For example, fighter jets are immediately scrambled to carry out major bombarding raids on significant terrorist enclaves upon acquisition of vital targets.”
