The recent accusation by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding Seyi Tinubu’s alleged conflict of interest in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway contract has stirred controversy. While Atiku’s statement may have political motivations, it’s important to distinguish between facts and assumptions.
Seyi Tinubu’s position as a director on CDK Integrated Industries’ board, a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group, is legal. He joined the board in 2018 before his father assumed the presidency. As an adult, Seyi has the right to pursue his business interests within the law.
Additionally, Seyi Tinubu represents an investor company’s interests on the CDK board, not his personal interests. Therefore, the accusation of conflict of interest lacks substance.
Furthermore, Seyi Tinubu’s involvement with CDK does not conflict with Hitech Construction Company’s work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal superhighway. The contract award was based on merit, not personal ties or influence.
It’s essential to recognize Seyi Tinubu as an educated and competent professional, distinct from his political lineage. Acknowledging his father’s presidency doesn’t disqualify him from legitimate business pursuits.
Seyi Tinubu is a capable and diligent individual with the right to pursue his interests. Viewing him solely as a “Daddy’s boy” undermines his achievements and stifles progress.
It’s time to recognize Seyi Tinubu’s competence and dismiss unfounded assumptions and political agendas.
