Confusion in Finidi George’s Camp as Amokachi Turns Down NFF Offer

As Nigeria gears up for a crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa, confusion has arisen within the Super Eagles camp following reports that Daniel Amokachi has rejected an offer from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Amokachi was expected to serve as an assistant under Finidi George, who is embarking on his first competitive game as the manager of the Super Eagles. However, doubts loom over whether Amokachi will join the team on the bench for the clash against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

According to sources, Amokachi has declined the NFF’s offer due to dissatisfaction with the contract terms. While Finidi George is set to receive a monthly wage, reports suggest that the backroom staff, including Amokachi, would be compensated on a game-by-game basis. Unwilling to accept these terms, Amokachi has reportedly turned down the offer.

The uncertainty surrounding Amokachi’s involvement presents an additional challenge for Finidi as he prepares for his debut match in charge of the Super Eagles. The distraction comes at a time when Finidi is already grappling with disruptions to his preparations, including the delayed arrival of some key players due to the Nigeria Labour Congress strike earlier in the week.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on whether Amokachi will ultimately take his place on the bench alongside Finidi George for the crucial encounter against South Africa. The developments highlight the complexities and challenges faced by national team managers, particularly in managing personnel issues amidst important fixtures
