Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Reacts as Fire Guts Christ Embassy Headquarters

The president and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has responded to the fire incident that engulfed the church’s headquarters in Lagos.

During a live Sunday service at the church’s campground in Asese, Pastor Oyakhilome addressed the incident, emphasizing that it was not an accident but an opportunity for greater things.

“Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident,” Pastor Oyakhilome said, recalling a past event. “During the 2001 Ikeja cantonment bombing incident, the building vibrated so much and we thought it was going to collapse. I thought to myself that if it collapsed, I was going to build a bigger, better one. At the end of the day, it didn’t collapse, and we called the engineers to see if there was any need to bring it down and rebuild, but it was still okay.”

Early Sunday morning, social media was flooded with videos showing the Christ Embassy building in Oregun, Ikeja, on fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the response from the church and its community has been swift and hopeful.

Reflecting on the current situation, Pastor Oyakhilome expressed his optimism, “Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wound.”

The Lagos Fire Service was quick to respond to the scene, working diligently to bring the fire under control. Authorities have assured that the situation is now stable and that there was no loss of life reported.

This incident, while unfortunate, has been met with a resilient spirit by the Christ Embassy community, echoing their leader’s faith in overcoming adversity and emerging stronger.
