The issue regarding the ownership and operation of the oil mining license (OML 245) in the southern Niger Delta has been a significant concern for the country and its citizens. However, the efforts of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, have brought about a positive change in this regard.

Under Lokpobiri’s administration, negotiations to settle the disputes surrounding (OML 245) have been finalized. This is a substantial achievement that will have a positive impact on the country’s economy. The minister has confirmed that the block will resume production in the national interest, a move that will not only generate revenue but also create job opportunities for thousands of Nigerians.

This significant achievement is a result of the directive given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and other government agencies to resolve all court cases related to OML 245 with collaborative efforts from different governmental authorities such as Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC), issues were resolved promptly and equitably.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Lokpobiri, made an announcement at the start of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Energy Week with a focus on “Showcasing opportunities, driving investment, meeting demand,” declaring that concerns about (OML 245) have been addressed. Nigeria’s oil and gas industry is progressing well under the leadership of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

He has also revealed that positive outcomes are emerging from the efforts to resolve these disputes, as investments worth billions of dollars have started flowing into Nigeria. This development is poised to fortify the country’s economic progress and advancement.

It should also be emphasized that during the legal proceedings, no proof of any criminal misconduct has been found on behalf of either the federal government or other parties involved. This showcases how transparent and equitable negotiations have been, eradicating all uncertainties pertaining to the possession and management of (OML 245).
