Charles Odii, the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), is leading significant initiatives that are transforming the landscape of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. In a recent initiative in the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos, SMEDAN collaborated with local authorities to disburse N50 million to 1,000 women entrepreneurs. Each recipient received N50,000, intended to boost the growth of their small businesses.
This initiative, supported by MTN Momo, the fintech arm of MTN Nigeria, highlights Odii’s commitment to addressing the needs of small business owners, especially in challenging economic climates. Odii emphasized that the financial assistance represents more than just funds; it serves as a transformative force aimed at helping these businesses flourish and open up new opportunities.
The local council also rewarded ten exemplary beneficiaries from the empowerment program with N000 each based on their achievements. Such steps not only motivate individual business owners but also inspire others within their communities.
