The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on newly elected local government chairmen and councillors to fulfill their campaign promises and serve the interests of their constituents.
The APC emerged victorious in all 23 chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship seats across the state in the recently concluded local government elections. However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged widespread irregularities in the election process and vowed to challenge the outcome in court.
In a statement issued by the APC’s Kaduna State Publicity Secretary, Salisu Tanko Wusono, the party highlighted the importance of service and accountability for the new officials. “As the closest tier of government to the people, we urge our newly elected representatives to prioritize the interests of their communities,” Wusono said.
He stressed that the officials must embody the APC’s core values of service, development, and accountability. “Leadership is not about power but service,” the statement noted, urging the new officials to immediately address pressing issues in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and security.
Wusono further expressed gratitude to the electorate for their support, assuring them that the APC remains committed to achieving progress in all parts of the state. “We must not leave any community behind; the interests of the people of Kaduna will always come first,” the statement emphasized.
While the APC celebrated its victory, the PDP criticized the electoral process, citing irregularities and vowing to pursue legal action to challenge the results.
