Zamfara commissioner resigns to contest LG election

The Zamfara State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mua’zu Haidara Kaura, has resigned to contest in the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for November 16, 2024.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which is currently in power in the state, has begun the sale of nomination forms, and campaigns by PDP candidates are underway across the state. According to the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), the official sale of forms for chairmanship and councillorship elections will start on October 25, 2024.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to confirm its participation. Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima, the APC state secretary, stated that they are awaiting guidance from the party’s national leadership on whether to enter the contest, promising that their decision will soon be announced to party supporters.

This election marks an important step in Zamfara’s political landscape, with both parties eyeing grassroots governance.
