The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as detrimental to the welfare of Nigerians. The group expressed concern over the removal of fuel subsidies, foreign exchange reforms, and other policy decisions, which it claims have led to increased inflation and poverty nationwide.
In a recent statement, the Northern socio-political group highlighted that while structural reforms are necessary, their implementation has not been accompanied by adequate measures to cushion the adverse effects on vulnerable populations. According to the ACF, millions of Nigerians are grappling with soaring prices of essential goods, skyrocketing transportation costs, and a general decline in living standards.
The Forum urged the administration to reassess its approach and prioritize policies that address the immediate needs of citizens while balancing long-term economic objectives. It also called for transparent communication and practical measures to mitigate the hardships caused by these reforms.
As public frustration grows, analysts suggest that the government’s ability to implement more inclusive policies could determine the administration’s approval ratings in the coming months.
