Soludo promises to probe Onitsha market fire incident
The Tuesday fire incident at the Onitsha Main Market, according to Governor of Anambra State Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, will be investigated to avoid such incidents in the future.
While offering sympathy to the traders, Soludo expressed sorrow over the early-morning fire that burned a two-story building within the market and other stores, resulting in the loss of items valued at millions of naira.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor provided the guarantee.
The statement read, “Soludo has commiserated with traders at the Onitsha Main Market over the fire incident that razed down their shops.
“The governor expressed sadness over the early morning fire on Tuesday that razed a two-storey building within the main market which consumed some shops leading to loss of goods.
“The governor again reiterated the need for all to be extra vigilant in preventing outbreaks of fire incidences in the markets, offices and even our homes
“He commended the efforts of the Fire-fighters and other security agencies who battled to contain the inferno
“Soludo further assured that government will investigate the incident to prevent future occurrence.”
