Payment of salaries my top priority, Otti tells Abia residents
Alex Otti, the candidate for governor of Abia State, has stated that after taking office on May 29, paying salaries will be his top priority.
On Thursday, Otti made this statement while appearing on “The Morning Show” on Arise Television.
He added that residents of the state should expect a “general restructuring.”
The Spectator reports that Otti of the Labour Party won the Abia State governorship election on Wednesday after receiving a total of 175,467 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 88,529 votes to finish in second place.
He said, “As of yesterday, I had already started engaging banks. (The) the thing they will expect is a general restructuring of Abia
“There is no problem in taking loans, but the problem is what you do with the loans. Payment of salaries is my priority.”
“We will create a bigger economy, a robust economy; we will do everything possible to ensure our economy grows.”
He noted that he would appoint a team that would help him in his administration very soon.
Otti said, “In the next few days, I will appoint a team that will be sworn in on May 29. I will appoint the right people who will help me.
“We will look at a lot of things, but we will take it to step by step, including revenue.”
