Man strangles pregnant girlfriend in Kano

The Kano State Police Command detained Philibus Ibrahim for reportedly killing Theresa Yakubu, 22, his pregnant girlfriend.

Ibrahim, who committed the crime in the state’s Tudun-Wada Local Government Area, and his accomplice, Gabriel Bila, both residents of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada Local Government Area, were both apprehended, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

On Tuesday in Kano, the state’s police commissioner, Mamman Dauda, confirmed the arrest to NAN.

According to Dauda, on April 2 at around 4.30 pm, a Good Samaritan informed authorities that a woman had been discovered unconscious by the side of Kano-Jos Road in Anadaria Village.

“On receiving the information, a team of policemen rushed to the scene and the victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital where she was confirmed dead by a doctor.

“Investigation, however, revealed that the victim left Nassarawan Kuki to Yantomo Village in Garin Babba Local Government Area of Kano on March 27, at about 6pm.

“In the course of the investigation, the principal suspect was arrested and he confessed to committing the offense by using the victim’s veil to strangulate her.”

Dauda stated that the investigation was underway and that the suspects would face charges after it was finished.
