Suspect in custody over Instagram cloth vendor’s death
The main suspect in the recent death at the Wetland Hotel, Akobo, in Ibadan, Oyo State, of Adeshina Olayinka, also known as Khadi, an Ibadan-based Instagram cloth dealer, is currently being held by police.
Olayinka was discovered dead after the companion she was with checked out early on Thursday morning, according to propolitics..
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the suspect is now being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
After learning that the police needed his attention in relation to the killing of Olayinka, the suspect—name withheld—voluntarily went to the Akobo Police Division, according to our correspondent’s research.
The supervisor and manager were reportedly unavailable when our journalist visited the hotel on Monday.
But a staff member who did not want his name in print because he is not the hotel’s spokesman, in an interview with Propolitics, said, “We wouldn’t have known until 12noon check out time if not for the power bank she borrowed from one of the receptionists. When we discovered that she was still breathing, we quickly called policemen at Akobo Police Station but unfortunately, she died before getting to the hospital.
“We called the suspect to inform him about the incident. He rushed down to the hotel to present himself to the police.
“He has been arrested and the case has been transferred to the SCID. He is one of our customers here. ”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, simply said, “Investigation is in progress. Updates would be provided accordingly, please.”
The hotel management claimed it was assisting the authorities with their investigation in a press release at the same time.
“One of our guests passed away while staying with us. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death,” the hotel management said.
