Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the successor to outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari, has been awarded the national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR).
During the current Investiture Ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Buhari presented Tinubu with the honor.
As part of the Investiture Ceremony for the President-Elect and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, they will receive the GCFR honor.
Recall that Buhari expressed a desire to assume office within the following few days.
On Monday, May 29, President Buhari will transfer over power to President-elect Tinubu.
Buhari was under a lot of pressure to complete his official office obligations as well as the variety of events planned for the inauguration.
At the conclusion of the Regimental Dinner hosted in honor of the President by the Armed Forces on Tuesday at the newly commissioned Nigerian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja, the President was joined by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Defense, Major General Salihi Magashi, the Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor, and the Service Chiefs.
Before essentially inaugurating six other projects across the nation, the President dedicated the new Nigerian Customs Service headquarters buildings officially Maitama District of the Federal Capital Territory.
Before leaving for the Regimental Dinner, he presided over another emergency Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting from midday till late Tuesday evening.
“Please, I will like to digress a bit from the prepared speech. I apologise most sincerely for keeping you waiting for about at least half an hour, actually I can hardly cope with the pressure and I’m desperately looking forward for the next six days,” he said.
