The Department of State Services has dismissed claims that its employees refused to let members of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission enter its Lagos headquarters.
The DSS was conducting an operation at “its own facility,” according to Peter Afunanya, the service’s spokesperson.
He told our journalist about this on Tuesday in a WhatsApp conversation.
He said, “It is not correct that the DSS barricaded EFCC from entering its office. No. It is not true. The Service is only occupying its own facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.
As implied by the media, there is no problem around No. 15A Awolowo Road. Did the EFCC inform you that it is disputing the building’s ownership? If it is arguing ownership, I will be astonished. NSO’s main office was on Awolowo Road. The SSS/DSS then began. It is widely recognized. It is a fact of history. Look it over.
However, he refuted assertions that his organization and the EFCC are in competition with one another.
