99% of oil theft carried out by Army, Navy – Dokubo tells Tinubu

Alhaji Asari Dokubu, a former Niger Delta insurgent, claimed on Friday that the army and navy are responsible for almost 98% of all oil theft in the nation.

Dokubo further claimed that the Niger Delta oil bunkering is being carried out by strong cabals, often working out of Abuja, who have an entitlement attitude.

After meeting with President Bola Tinubu in private at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Dokubo told State House reporters that his visit was intended to offer the President words of encouragement for his deeds and statements since taking office.

According to him, “We discussed the issues of security and oil theft in the Niger Delta. Myself and my brothers assured Mr. President that there will be no more oil theft in the Niger Delta.”

He further said, “The military is at the center of oil theft. 99 percent of oil theft can be traced to the Nigeria military, the army and the navy.

“The army and navy intimidate the Civil Defence that have the responsibility to protect the oil facilities. The main culprits are the army and the navy.

“There are notorious army commanders that are kingpins in the oil theft. The military men are busy stealing. The insurgents are harvesting from Nigeria military and police to further their criminality “

The former militant added that “his people” were stationed around the nation keeping the peace and claimed that it was his “people” who had made it feasible for Nigerians to travel between Abuja and Kaduna and vice versa.

He said the President has promised a decisive action to make sure that this does not continue.

“I volunteered to help to see to an end this evil. I can take a bullet for Tinubu,” he said.
