Due to the counsel’s absence, Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos State, Frederick Nwajagu’s terrorist trial was postponed on Tuesday.

Nwajagu is on trial in front of the Tafawa Balewa Square-based Lagos High Court.

He was arraigned on May 9 on a nine-count indictment brought by the Lagos State Government.
The allegations touch on meeting to assist an outlawed organization and engaging in terrorist activity.

However, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to each allegation.

The Lagos State Government claimed that the defendant’s actions violated Section 403(2) of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015 in the lawsuit with the file number LD/21505C/2023.

Other legal provisions that the accused offenses violated, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Mr. Jonathan Ogunsanya, were sections 12(a)(c), 18, 21, and 29 of the Terrorism (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Nwajagu was detained by agents of the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly threatening to invite IPOB members to Lagos in order to protect Igbo property in the state.

The prosecution’s attorney made an announcement about his presence on Tuesday, but the defendant was not represented by counsel.

The matter was postponed to Wednesday, July 5, for trial before Justice Yetunde Adesanya.
