Adeleke to swear in commissioners Wednesday

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, will swear in his newly chosen commissioners on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Earlier, Festus Adeyemo, the former governor of Osun State, two commissioners who served in the state cabinet under the previous governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and 22 others were announced as commissioner-nominees by the State House of Assembly, according to a report by Propolitics.

At the session on July 7, the Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, read the names as they appeared in the letter that Adeleke had sent to the parliamentarians.

Kolapo Alimi, who served as commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Mr. Biyi Odunlade, who served as Special Adviser and later commissioner for Sports, are the two members of Aregbesola’s cabinet who made the list.

Adeyemo, a native of Irewole Local Government Area, served as Oyinlola’s chief of staff toward the end of his term after Dr. Peter Babalola, who had held the position since 2003, quit the cabinet to pursue his desire to become governor.

The deceased senator Isiaka Adeleke’s widow, Mrs. Folashade Adeleke, who was the older brother of the current governor, is also listed.

Other nominees include Oladosu Babatunde, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who previously served as the governor’s personal assistant, Bayo Ogungbangbe, Sesan Oyedele, Soji Ajeigbe, Moshood Olagunju, George Alabi, Sunday Oroniyi, Abiodun Ojo, Dr. Basiru Salami, Morufu Ayofe, and Sola Ogungbile.

The swearing-in ceremony, however, will take place in the Local Government Service Commission headquarters on Wednesday, according to a statement made by the governor’s spokeswoman on Tuesday, Olawale Rasheed.

The statement read, “Governor Ademola Adeleke has fixed tomorrow Wednesday 19th of July for the inauguration and swearing in of the newly appointed commissioners.
“The event is billed to hold at the Local Government Service Commission building, Government Secretariat, Osogbo by 10 am.
“All commissioners designate are to be seated before 10 am.”
