Analyzing Atiku Abubakar’s Fruitless Pursuit of Political Power

Despite his years in office and the substantial wealth accumulated during his political career, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar,  has failed to secure the presidency, and his latest efforts appear equally futile. His strategies, including attempts to discredit President Bola Tinubu, have not gained the traction he hoped for.

One significant episode in Atiku’s recent endeavors involved the deposition of the Chicago State University Registrar, Caleb Westberg, in an attempt to question President Tinubu’s educational records. However, many analysts, legal experts, and writers dismissed this move as lacking relevance to the core issues.

The fact remains that Atiku’s case, as presented to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), fell short, resulting in the dismissal of his petitions. While some commentators may continue to express their outrage, the legal proceedings found Atiku’s case wanting.

Atiku’s recent world press conference appeared to be a last-ditch effort to incite public unrest and civil disorder. This strategy, as fragile and implausible as it is, seems unlikely to succeed where previous attempts to undermine the electoral process have failed.

Furthermore, Atiku’s claims of being a member of a generation that fought to return power to the people are met with skepticism. His political ideology, often seen as flexible and opportunistic, does not align with the image of a principled and dedicated democrat.

In summary, Atiku Abubakar’s relentless pursuit of the presidency has been marked by questionable tactics and a string of failures. As he attempts to reshape his narrative, it remains to be seen whether his efforts will bear fruit or continue to fade in the political landscape of Nigeria.
