Eden Hazard has been dubbed the “laziest footballer” by Super Eagles star John Mikel Obi. Mikel and Hazard were teammates for five seasons, from 2012 until Mikel left the Stanford Bridge in 2016.
During their tenure at the club, they won a Premier League championship, the UEFA Europa League, and the FA Cup as part of a trophy-laden career.
Hazard left the club much later, going to Real Madrid in 2018, before injuries derailed his major transfer. He ultimately announced his retirement from football a few weeks ago, stating it was time to enjoy a few more beers.
“He is the laziest footballer I’ve ever seen in my life, but come the weekend, and he comes alive.” He wins the man-of-the-match award, and then he shows everyone. “He’s like, come on guys, you see,” the ex-Super Eagles player explained.
“If you look at him now, he’s lost a little weight, but when he was at Chelsea, the night before the game, after dinner, he’ll sit for like twenty minutes, eating his rice pudding. He likes his food,” Obi added.
Despite Hazard’s flaws in training, the former Super Eagles captain emphasized that his performance in games was rarely questioned, as he always provided premium performances.
“He then goes to bed, wakes up in the morning, arrives at the game by 3 p.m., and performs.” He isolates himself and does not fully engage in training. He simply slaps about, but on weekends he comes up with the goodies.”
Hazard was largely regarded as the finest football player in the world during his time at Chelsea, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi.
