Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko, Dean of Student Affairs at Lagos State University (LASU), has been fired.
Following an expose by Sahara Reporters alleging certificate racketeering in the institution, Olumoko was dismissed.
According to the investigation, Olumoko was part of a certificate racketeering organization that assisted individuals in purchasing LASU certifications for 2m or 3m, depending on the intricacy of the course involved.
Confirming the news, a university source who did not want his name disclosed stated Olumoko was fired on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, and was replaced by Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan.
According to the source, Olumoko has not yet been fired.
Meanwhile, according to the report indicting the school, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, the previous Vice Chancellor of the university, commissioned an inquiry and sting operation
In 2022, DSS operatives would be used to uncover the syndicates.
According to the claims, the university’s current Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, is attempting to sweep the matter under the rug.
However, in response to the claim, the university stated on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, that the findings of its internal inquiry would be made public and that necessary action would be taken.
The Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, stated in a statement, “Lagos State University Management does not take such matters lightly.”
Prof Fagbohun, the institution’s previous Vice Chancellor, named Prof Olumoko as Student Affairs Dean in 2020.
