The Kogi State Social Democratic Party (SDP) has demanded that the results of the state’s governorship election on November 11th be annulled.
The SDP made this call at the gubernatorial election collation centre, where the party’s collation agent, David Edibu, petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission for the cancellation of results in Okene, Okehi, Ogori Magongo, Adavi, Ajaokuta, and some parts of Lokoja, alleging corrupt practices, vote buying, and over voting.
He further stated that agents of the Social Democratic Party were not permitted to approach polling locations in local government regions.
Prof. Johnson Urame, the state returning officer, accepted the petitions on behalf of the commission and guaranteed the Social Democratic Party The petition would be evaluated by the party.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party stated that it would consider the Social Democratic Party’s plea.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s collation agent, Abubakar Mahmood, noted that the amount of malpractices in the aforementioned Local Government Areas was frightening.
However, in response to the cancelation call, the All Progressives Congress stated that the Peoples Democratic Party cannot be blamed for not sending agents to polling locations.
