Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was proclaimed the victor of Imo State’s gubernatorial election on Saturday.
This was revealed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday in Owerri.
Prof Abayomi Fasina, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti in Ekiti State and the State Returning Officer for the election, stated the governor received 540,308 votes to defeat other contenders.
According to INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, finished in second place with 71,503 votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Athan Achonu, came in third place with 64,081 votes.
