Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been instructed to take advantage of the opportunity presented by their three-week orientation training to develop national unity and integration among themselves, regardless of tribe or religious differences.
The advise was given today by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, in his speech to the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members undergoing orientation at the Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp at Government College, Kurmi Mashi, Kaduna.
He advised them to accept their deployment to Kaduna State in good faith, establish friends during and after the orientation course, and appreciate the State’s different customs.
General Ahmed instructed corps members not to go at night and urged them to be security vigilant at all times.
“Don’t Travel at night and attempt to be security alert wherever you are stationed.
“The essence of the service year is to expose you to different cultures apart from your own so that you can appreciate others” , he went on to say.
He advised corps members not to dress inappropriately, adding that anyone who violated NYSC-approved dress regulations would face severe consequences.
General Ahmed went on to advise them to learn skills via the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in-camp training program and to become employers of labor.
Mr Hassan Taura, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, stated during the camp situation report that the corps members, who include 655 girls and 766 males, have all demonstrated a strong sense of discipline from the start of the orientation exercise.
