The NDLEA Testifies in Adebutu’s Vote-Buying Trial

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, testified on Friday in a case filed by the Federal Government against Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State in the 2023 election.

The agency testified before an Ogun State High Court through an operative named Kelechi Kenneth.

It will be remembered that the Federal Government had taken Adebutu and nine others to court over alleged vote buying during the state’s last election.

“We didn’t accuse anyone of vote buying,” Kenneth testified before the court. On election day, we saw four men on a bike with 52 cards that looked like ATM cards with the imprint For less, Adam Caroline Aladuni Adebutu memorial endorsement scheme

privileges. We detained the men, took their statements, and turned them over to the cops.

“They said they were coming from their work, where they held a meeting with other PDP leaders and they were given 52 cards to distribute to their members at the OGBC Polling Unit 17 and that each card contained N10,000 with accessed code of 0303.”

Meanwhile, Mr Adebutu’s lawyer, Goddy Uche, told the judge in court that some sections of the media that his client was being tried for money laundering.
