Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate, said on Wednesday that there was a conspiracy to prevent the 2023 presidential election from taking place.
Soyinka claimed that those calling for an interim government intended to cancel the 2023 presidential election. The Nobel laureate made the claim during an interview with Channels TV on Wednesday.
He stated, “I am alleging that there was a conspiracy from the very beginning, before the election, to ensure that the elections did not take place or, if they did, that everything reverted to what happened under Babangida.”
“When we all awoke and discovered that even though the results were, Even though we had direct access to the results from international bodies such as monitoring embassies, they were abruptly annulled.
“History was about to repeat itself, and some people were determined to bring us back to those times.
“So, for me, it was no longer a competition between individuals, but rather between the so-called interim political party and democracy.
“When you have a binary like that, I have no doubt or hesitation about what side of the barricade my position should be.”
