Kenneth Omeruo, a Super Eagles defender, has revealed that Jose Peseiro’s team will defeat host nation Ivory Coast at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, if they remain focused throughout the match.

Nigeria will face Ivory Coast in their second Group A match on Thursday evening.

The Super Eagles enter the game after drawing 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea in their first match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in their first game.

“Nigerians should expect us to do our best to win the game,” Omeruo told Sports Brief.

“Obviously, they are playing at home [as the host nation]. I think we are better than them, can win that game, but we have to go out there, stay focused and try to win.”
