Officials, leaders of political parties, and citizens of Kano, Plateau, and Zamfara states are waiting nervously for the Supreme Court’s decision on the governorship appeals it will hear today, which has created an unsettling calm in these states.
The Appeal Court declared the elections of the governors of the Plateau and Kano states to be invalid and mandated a rerun in a few Zamfara State constituencies.
While the citizens carried on with their everyday activities, the political elite was in a state of suspense, particularly in the Government Houses where officials were worried about their tenure.
Between Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the Supreme Court will decide who will remain governor of Kano State.
Government operations continued to as Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, the minister of trade, industry, and investments, was welcomed to Government House. Wada Sagagi, the governor’s chief of staff, did, however, represent him during the stakeholder interaction.
