Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, through his legal team, has threatened to sue the President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio over alleged defamation.

This was contained in a letter endorsed by his lead counsel, Matthew Burkaa, SAN, and addressed to Representative Akpabio on Emefiele’s brief and guidance.
It is in response to a broadly coursed assertion made by the Senate President in a video showed by Stations TV last end of the week which, as per Emefiele, is bogus, contorted and obviously pointed toward belittling his personality.
Akpabio had as of late said, “We don’t have the foggiest idea what wrongdoing to accuse emefiele of.
“So the sort of obligation and the sort of monetary wreck that we are in, a many individuals don’t have any idea, I recall President Obama saying you can’t know Washington until you get to Washington. So when we went in to take a gander at the financial condition of the country, it was horrible
so the Previous Legislative leader of National Bank of Nigeria we didn’t have any idea what to charge him, whether to charge him for putting froth on the … or to charge him for unlawful ownership of guns or to charge him for printing notes without pay, I don’t have the foggiest idea what we will accuse him of. In any case, what I can be sure of is that, yes there is hunger today on account of the arrangements that they took,” Akpabio said.
In his letter to the Senate President, Emefiele said Akpabio had, that’s what in his proclamation recommended “The reason for the whole difficulty in Nigeria today is because of the approaches of the past organization.”
It likewise said it depicted Emefiele as “A chronic guilty party whose activity is answerable for all the difficulty experienced by Nigerians today.
“An individual who has committed offenses that are various to the point that the public authority is confounded with regards to which of the offenses to favor a charge against him.”
He blamed Akpabio for subjudice, saying the previous CBN boss had been charged to court and is as of now safeguarding himself. He said it was troubling that as top of the governing body, Akpabio ought to have realized that his explanation sabotaged the honesty and autonomy of the court.
“You are likewise mindful that no single strategy was completed by Our Client without the endorsement, mandate or approval of the President or potentially the Government Chief Board of which you were a key and strong part.
“It is as per the abovementioned and without digging into the matter by and by forthcoming in Court that Our Client has taught that we keep in touch with Your great workplaces and request the quick withdrawal of Your explanation which has circulated around the web and are viewed as plainly abusive of Our Client

“We subsequently have Our Client’s further guidance to request from you an open conciliatory sentiment recorded as a hard copy, distributed and flowed by a similar medium with which you have maligned his personality and the amount of 25 Billion Naira (N25,000,000,000) as sensible remuneration for the headstrong and unmerited denigration of his well deserved standing.
