The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, has called a statewide demonstration over the high cost of living in the nation on February 27 and 28, and it has started in Abuja.
NLC had issued a protest alert to its members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the 36 states over the suffering of Nigerian civil servants.
The NLC and the Trade Union Congress, as reported by the DAILY POST, had given the federal government a notice of a nationwide strike for 14 days on February 8 due to their inability to carry out the agreements they had struck on October 2 after the fuel subsidy was removed.
To further stress its demands, the union chose to stage a two-day statewide protest while Nigerians continue to struggle with economic hardship.
In spite of the security advisory issued by theThe Department of State Services, or DSS, union, was the catalyst for the nationwide protests in numerous locations.
