An accident in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, resulted in the hospitalization of an apprentice who was riding with a trailer driver.
Due to injuries he received on his leg during the Saturday accident, the apprentice was admitted to the hospital.
The DAILY POST was informed that an apprentice was seriously hurt in the leg when a tanker carrying petroleum skidded and crashed on Saturday afternoon while navigating the Takie roundabout in Ogbomoso.
According to sources, the tanker was approaching from Caretaker’s direction when it dropped as it turned to turn onto Federal Government College Road, which connects to the new Ilorin highway.
The apprentice has been transported to the Ogbomoso Teaching Hospital at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, or LAUTECH.
A traffic bottleneck was caused by the event in the city with a lengthy lineup of automobiles, especially articulated cars on the main trunk A road.
The development was confirmed by an Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (ORTMA) employee who wished to remain anonymous.
“One of the motor boys had been taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital after an accident crushed one of his legs,” he stated.
“Our men mobilized to nearby road junctions as soon as they saw the accident to stop traffic and control people’s movement at the scene to prevent any untoward incident like a fire outbreak or more accidents.”
The DAILY POST learned that the region has a high number of reported traffic accidents.
Our correspondent remembers that there was an incident that resulted in five injuries in July of the previous year.
In December of last year, many accidents in the same location claimed the lives of about eighteen people as well.
The government has been consistently urged to build a flyover at the roundabout by the people of Ogbomoso.
