Sen. John Owan Enoh, Minister of Sports Development, has praised Nigeria’s Super Eagles for making it to the AFCON round of 16 in Cote d’Ivoire. The praise was delivered by the minister on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Super Eagles defeated Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in their last group A match on Monday in Abidjan to place second in the pool and move on to the round of 16.
“I would like to congratulate the Super Eagles on their successful 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on Monday, which qualified them for the next round of 16,” the speaker remarked.
Enoh was upbeat about the team’s chances of winning the championship and returning home with the trophy at the conclusion of the competition.
“We have faith that you will continue giving it your all, play with passion, and win the trophy.
“Your triumph will serve as a pivot for immense opportunities for Nigeria and its citizens. “Well done, and let’s do it again!” he said.
Nigeria finished as the runners-up in Group A, trailing surprise leaders Equatorial Guinea, with two victories, one tie, and seven points from three games, according to NAN.
In the second round, Nigeria will now play the runners-up from Group C, Later on Tuesday, the positions in Group C will be finalized.
