The Nigeria Customs Service Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, has initiated the construction of a 30-bed ultramodern hospital worth N500 million at Zone D Headquarters, Bauchi. The hospital, funded by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative, aims to improve the capacity and welfare of NCS officers and the local communities.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Monday, marks a significant milestone for the Nigeria Customs Service, as it marks the first time the agency has received such a substantial donation from an organization. This demonstrates the commitment and dedication of ASR Africa and its Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, to improving the lives of security personnel and their families.
During the event, the Comptroller General expressed gratitude to ASR Africa for the grant awarded to the NCS, stating that it will greatly support the agency’s mandate of revenue generation, controlling smuggling, and facilitating trade. He also emphasized the importance of caring for the welfare of NCS officers and ensuring the health of their families and the communities they serve.
The Managing Director of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, reaffirmed the Chairman’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the security agencies across the country. He also mentioned that ASR Africa has been in communication with all the beneficiaries of the security grant and is actively working on implementing all selected projects.
The hospital, valued at N500 million, is planned to be a modern medical facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to address the healthcare needs of NCS officers and the surrounding communities. This aligns with the NCS’s ongoing initiative to establish medical facilities in all their zonal headquarters.
