Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has arrived in Abuja for the hearing of his petition to annul Bola Tinubu’s election, which is scheduled for Thursday.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ran Atiku as a candidate in the presidential election on February 25.
However, Mr. Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election after receiving 8.8 million more votes than Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku.
In their respective cases, Atiku and Mr. Obi are contesting the results of the election and claim that INEC, Nigeria’s electoral body, violated a number of Electoral Act provisions in how the poll was conducted.
They claimed that INEC rigged the elections in Mr. Tinubu’s favor.
In their individual petitions, they petitioned the court to either proclaim them the election’s winners or to call for a new election.
Atiku will make his first court appearance on Thursday since the five-member panel started hearing cases on Monday. But since Monday, Mr. Obi has shown in court everytime his case was scheduled.
Dino Melaye, the PDP candidate for governor of Kogi and other party veterans joined Atiku at the petitions’ continuing pre-hearing proceedings
