A section of the Eleme Local Government Area secretariat in Rivers State has been set ablaze, sparking fears of potential unrest in the region. The arson attack was discovered when the newly elected chairman, Brian Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat alongside his councillors and supporters, only to find parts of the building engulfed in flames.

According to a report from Channels Television, the incident was confirmed through a phone conversation with former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, a native of Eleme. Details surrounding the cause of the fire or the perpetrators remain unclear, but the situation has raised concerns about the possibility of escalating violence in the area.

There is a growing fear of unrest in other local government areas (LGAs) across Rivers State, as tensions rise. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities, and the authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
