BREAKING: EPL: Everton’s 10-Point Deduction Reduced to Six

Everton’s 10-point sanction for violating the Profitability and Sustainability Rules, or PSR, of the Premier League has been lowered to six after an appeal.

An independent commission sanctioned the Toffees on November 17 after it was determined that they had lost more than the allowed amount by £19.5 million over the evaluation period that concluded with the 2021–2022 season.

However, at the beginning of February, the Merseyside club made the choice to file an appeal.

Everton will now have 25 points after their punishment was reduced, which puts them five points above the bottom three and in 15th place.

The Appeal Board’s decision to reverse the initial Commission’s conclusion that the club did not behave in the best interests of good faith has also made the club very happy.

In addition to lowering the points, such choice deduction, was an incredibly important point of principle for the club on appeal. The Club, therefore, feels vindicated in pursuing its appeal,” an Everton statement read in part.
