The administration of the neighboring nation opened its border in Konni for business on Friday, just one week after the Nigeria Customs Service opened the Illela land border between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
News reporters were briefed by Nuhu Samaila, a source from Konni, in the Niger Republic, who stated that the border was opened at precisely 12:00 pm on Friday.
He praised the military junta’s decision to keep the border open in order to give the people’s desires a hearing.
“At the very least, the government deserves praise for finally taking the necessary action.
After the Nigerian side of the border was proclaimed open, it was our collective prayer that this border would also be reopened.
“I desire to think that this will greatly aid in the development of these two nations’ economies, as it will enable increased trade between Nigeria and the Niger Republic,” he continued.
The PROPOLITICS remembers that on Wednesday of last week, the Nigerian government opened Nigeria’s air and land borders with the neighboring country, restoring power to the Republic of Niger. This action was taken in response to President Bola Tinubu’s direction.
