Adewale Egbedun, a 38-year-old assemblyman from the Odo-Otin State Constituency, was chosen on Tuesday to serve as the assembly’s speaker.

He became the speaker after Ibrahim Abiola of the Irewole/Isokan constituency proposed him, and Areoye Samuel seconded it.

Akinyode Oyewusi, who represents the Ife North Constituency, was also chosen to serve as the House’s Deputy Speaker.

Simeon Amusan, the Clerk of the House, presided over the 8th Assembly’s first official meeting.
