On Monday morning, an Okada rider was killed when he collided with a stopped car at Ote in Surulere Local Government Area of the state’s Ogbomoso-Ilorin road.
The Propoliticis were informed by witnesses that all of the victims were male adults, and that their bodies had been carried to the mortuary at the Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital while the injured were transferred to the Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, for treatment.
According to our correspondent’s inquiries, the commercial bus and its 21 passengers were traveling north before the event occurred.
Seun Fakorede, one of the witnesses, stated, “The accident happened on Sunday night. At that tight turn, the bus’s driver attempted to pass the trailer, but he abruptly lost control and collided with it. The vehicle abruptly veered off the road and nearly five times somersaulted. Five people passed away right away. The authorities in charge of traffic safety swiftly sent others to the hospital.
The Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogbomoso Unit Commander, Isaac Adebayo, confirmed the two occurrences to Propolitics over the phone on Monday. “The incident happened Sunday evening around 17:00 hours,” he added.
“Five died immediately. My people have gone there this morning. I just confirmed from him that another person died at the hospital, making it six altogether.
“Also this morning, my people have to go to another rescue on the Ilorin road. An Okada rider ran into a trailer again at Gbede, very close to Ote. He also died. That’s the information I’ve gotten so far,” he explained.
