Politicians and others interested in undermining the just finished Nigerian elections in 2023 are subject to visa restrictions from the United States.

In a statement on Monday, the US said it was dedicated to assisting Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen the democratic system and the rule of law, according to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Blinken did not, however, name the people who will be affected by the suspension on visas.

In a tweet on Monday, Blinken said, “We have imposed visa restrictions on specific individuals who undermined the democratic process during Nigeria’s 2023 elections.

“We remain committed to supporting Nigerian aspirations to strengthen democracy and rule of law.”
