A Chinese couple has been accused of murdering a South Korean influencer who, according to the Chinese couple, passed away while undergoing treatment at their clinic by a Cambodian court.
Last Monday, BJ Ahyeong’s body was discovered abandoned outside of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
After she suffered from convulsions and passed away while undergoing treatment at their city beauty clinic, the pair claimed they abandoned her body.
Prosecutors, however, have denied their story.
The AFP news agency was informed by prosecutor Plang Sophal that Lai Wenshao and Cai Huijuan had been charged with “murder and torture.”
Locals reportedly discovered her body, which was wrapped in crimson fabric.
BJ Ahyeong had more than 260,000 Instagram followers and worked as an influencer for the South Korean video streaming service AfreecaTV.
Broadcast jockeys, or BJ as they are known in Korea, are those that provide viewers with live streaming.
According to South Korean media, she is 33-year-old Byun Ah-yeong.
She made the announcement that she was giving up her public character in order to “live as a normal person” in March.
If convicted, the couple would be sentenced to life in jail.
