During Wedding Ceremony, Kano Hisbah Board Arrested Eight Accused Crossdressers

During a wedding in Kofar Waika, Gwale Loal Government Area of Kano, the Kano Hisbah Board captured eight alleged cross dressers.

The Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujaheed Aminudeen-Abubakar, gave the remark to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano. According to the board, the defendants were apprehended when good Samaritans reported that young guys disguised in female Fulani clothing had arrived and were dancing at a wedding.

“Our officials on receiving the information, went to the venue of the wedding ceremony and apprehended eight young men, including the groom, dressed in full female Fulani attire, dancing to music in their regalia,” he went on to say.

When he appeared in Kano’s Hisbah Shari’a Court, he was charged with a felony. The presiding judge, Khadi Tanimu-Sani, ruled that they each get 10 cane lashes, pay 20,000, and produce one surety, or be imprisoned in a detention facility for three months.

The board, which was formed in the year 2000, is tasked with enjoining what is proper and prohibiting what is bad in Islamic customs and manners.
