Eid el-Fitr: NSCDC deploys 780 personnel in Gombe

Achir Abraham, the commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Gombe State Command, announced the deployment of 780 soldiers for strong security measures and crime prevention on Thursday.

The safety of those deployed would be maintained before, during, and after the Eid el-Fitr celebration in Gombe this year, according to Abraham.

A press release issued by the command’s public relations officer, DSC Buhari Sa’ad, conveyed the Commandant’s announcement.

In order to ensure appropriate security of people and property, Abraham emphasized that personnel would be placed on main routes, patrol teams, and surveillance squads to cover critical national assets, worship centers, recreation centers, marketplaces, motor parks, retail centers, and black spots throughout the state.

“780 personnel have been deployed for robust security arrangements and crime prevention for Eid celebration. On behalf of the entire officers and men, I heartily rejoice and felicitate with all Muslim faithful in the state as they celebrate this year’s Eid el-Fitr,” Abraham’s statement partly said.

Regardless of their allegiance with a particular religion, he urged Muslim adherents to promote peace, show compassion, forgiveness, and tolerance.

Abraham further urged the general population to practice security awareness and alert security services to any suspicious activity in their area, saying, “If you see something, say something.”
