Eight individuals have died as a result of a multi-fatal accident that happened at Shadarki Village along the Darazo – Bauchi road in the Darazo Local Government Area of the Bauchi State.
Twelve kilometers from the Federal Road Safety Corp.’s Darazo Base, a crash left six additional victims with injuries of varying severity.
The disaster happened on Wednesday afternoon, according to the FRSC Sector Commander Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent late on Wednesday night.
He said that two vehicles—a private and a business one—were involved in the collision.
“The crash occurred on Wednesday at 1.32 pm and we were immediately informed about it. Our men rushed to the scene of the incident within 10 minutes for a rescue operation.
“The crash involved 14 people – five male adults, six female adults, two male children and one female child.
“Immediately our rescue team arrived at the scene of the incident, they evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Darazo, for medical treatment and confirmation.
“While there, a medical doctor confirmed eight of them dead. The corpses were deposited at the morgue while the injured are being treated.
“Those confirmed dead – two male adults, three female adults, two male children and one female child. Three male adults and three female adults sustained bruises, head injury and fracture,” he said.
According to Abdullahi, the two vehicles in the collision were a Volkswagen Golf car with the registration number DX 65 EKY and a white private Toyota pickup van with the registration number BPP 041.
“The crash was caused by wrongful overtaking.”
Four phones and personal items, he claimed.
