Gary Neville, a Manchester United legend, has identified Kobbie Mainoo as the Red Devils star that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would want in his team.
Neville stated this after Man United’s 3-0 Premier League win over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, saying the 18-year-old midfielder looks like a Manchester City player.
Mainoo made his Premier League debut on Sunday, when Manchester United defeated Everton 3-0, thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial.
He put in an impressive performance at the heart of Man United’s midfield, earning him the team’s Man of the Match award after the game “He [Mainoo] has arrived at Goodison Park
“He looked class in what could have been the most ferocious atmospheres for many a year in a hostile environment,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“The biggest compliment I can pay him, and it pains me to say it, is that I hope people take it in the right spirit… He had the appearance of a Manchester City player.
“Honestly, I was watching him and thinking, ‘that is a player that Pep Guardiola will be looking at and thinking, ‘I want him in my midfield, that is what my midfield players do’.”
