During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Falana said that the CBN has gathered roughly 3.2 trillion from different sources.
However, when it came to replacing the old 200, 500, and 100 notes with new ones, the bank only created 402 billion.
After criticizing previous CBN governor Godwin Emefiele’s currency redesign earlier this year, Falana decried the scarcity of the Naira.
He filed a lawsuit, claiming the Freedom of Information Act, to demand transparency. Falana voiced his disappointment and stressed the need of utilizing the law to combat corruption and obtain vital information in order to preserve the interests of the people.
Falana also expressed reservations about the leadership of Nigeria’s anti-graft government institutions.
He cited a breach of the federal character principle by claiming that the chairs of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) should not be from the same geographical zone.
