Gunmen abduct 29 from Abuja village

In the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, gunmen are said to have kidnapped no fewer than 29 residents.

The 29 people, who included men, housewives, and kids, were taken in the middle of the night on Tuesday from Yewuti village, which is the hometown of Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, the recently-retired deputy chairman of the Kwali Area Council.

As they were being dragged into the jungle by their captors, two housewives, Mrs. Zainab Umar and Mrs. Aisha Zubairu, reportedly escaped from their captors.

According to the report, the abducted individuals also include Idris Mohammed, Abdullahi Zubairu, Sani S. Magani, Peter Modu, Ibrahim Mamman, Yellow Abdulrasheed, Musa Suleiman, Simbiya Ishaku, Sumaiya Ibrahim, Muktari Yunusa, Mohammed Yeluwa, and Rahmat Shagari.

Others include Hussaini Ya Nda Agyana, Maimuna Muhammad, Rufai Salihu, Nafisa Aminu, Kasimu Adamu, Abako Adamu, Abdulyakin Aliyu, Lukman Aliyu, Rahina Audu, Abdulrazak Usman, Sadiya Usman, Darius Samuel, and Japheth Osu.

According to reports, the gunmen invaded eight homes and led the occupants into the wilderness.

It was also stated that Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, the immediate vice chairman of the council, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that his younger brother Idris, two of his elder brothers’ wives, and a kid were among the victims.
