I’m Not Desperate to be President — Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in the general election of 2023, declared he was not a desperate man to become president of Nigeria.

At the newspaper’s Annual Conference and Awards event in Abuja on Tuesday, Obi gave a speech in response to being named the Leadership Politician of the Year 2023.

Obi stated that it was unfortunate that the war-torn nation of Ukraine would give grain to Nigeria when Niger State could feed all of Africa.

“Let me thank the LEADERSHIP Newspaper for this award and this event,” he remarked. The keynote speaker has finished speaking.

“I am thankful to the all-powerful God for this honor. I will dedicate my life to serving my country if given the chance.

Obi declared, “I am not desperate to be president; I am desperate to make Nigeria work.” He went on to say that young Nigerians needed to be actively involved in the workforce to end poverty and criminality.

We don’t need an excuse for poverty. Particularly in the North, poverty should never exist in our lives, stated Obi.

He continued by saying Nigeria can feed Africa with its more than 7,442,00 square meters of land.

“Ukraine has no reason to give us grain,” stated Obi. Niger State’s 73, 000 square meter area is enough to feed Nigeria, Africa.

“Borno, which has a land area of over 70,000 square meters, and Taraba, the largest state in the Northeast, are four times larger than Belgium, a country that exports food.

“We can do so much more than in the country if we have the right leadership. The more you remove people out of poverty, the more you have less criminals,” Obi said.
