In order to attend the Paris Summit for the New Global Financial Pact with his counterparts from around the world, President Bola Tinubu has left Abuja for Paris.
Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., Tinubu’s official Gulfstream plane departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s Presidential Wing for his first overseas journey as president.
The two-day summit will be held in Palais Brongniart on June 22–23, 2023, and will be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The President will travel to Paris to “participate, review, and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on priority list for support and investment, following devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to a statement signed by the Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake,
Leaders will take into account opportunities to reclaim fiscal space for nations facing challenging short-term financial challenges, particularly the most indebted; mobilize creative financing for nations vulnerable to climate change; promote development in low-income countries; and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
Alake claims that in order to provide access to financing and investment that will leverage inclusive growth, President Tinubu and other world leaders, multilateral organizations, financial experts, and economists will examine the recovery of economies from the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects and rising cases of poverty more comprehensively.
